Active in the Academy team in spring 2022 are (from right): Rudolf Bühler, Frederik Schulze-Hamann, Miriam Kaiser, Anna-Lena Buchholz, Josefine Herz, Prof. Dr. Franz-Theo Gottwald and Dr. Panma Yankit and Ajay Kumar from India who were working as educational interns in the planning of the World Organic Forum. Again and again, volunteers and interns support the work of the team.
Rudolf Bühler
Board and Chairman Foundation House of Farmers
For more than 40 years, Rudolf Bühler has been involved as an agricultural engineer, agricultural sociologist and tropical farmer in rural regional development projects at home and abroad. In the beginning, he worked for many years as a development aid worker and since 1984 in his home region of Hohenlohe, where he took over his ancestors' family farm Sonnenhof in Wolpertshausen and opened an office for rural regional development. His most important domestic projects are the rescue of the old landrace Schwäbisch-Hällisches pig, the foundation of various farming organizations as well as the foundation Haus der Bauern/Akademie Schloss Kirchberg. His international projects are guided by the motto "Seeds of Hope".
Prof. Dr. Franz-Theo Gottwald
Head of the Kirchberg Castle Academy
Professor Dr. Franz-Theo Gottwald studied theology, philosophy, Indology and social sciences. After research stays on environmental and agricultural ethical issues abroad, he worked in the field of environmental management at the consulting firm Schirmer und Kollegen. From 1988 to 2020, he was a board member of the Schweisfurth Foundation for Sustainable Agricultural and Food Sciences. Franz-Theo Gottwald researches and teaches as an honorary professor of agricultural, nutritional and environmental ethics at Humboldt University Berlin. He is involved in a variety of voluntary activities, for example as chairman of the supervisory board of the World Future Council Foundation and chairman of the board of the Bavarian Culinary Heritage Association. The author of expert literature on sustainable development, SDGs and corporate responsibility also acts as a keynote speaker and moderator. Since December 2021, Professor Franz-Theo Gottwald has the head of the Akademie Schloss Kirchberg. Together with Chairman Rudolf Bühler and the team, he continues to develop the Academy's work.

Sustainable and healthy nutrition, sustainability in consumption as well as organic farming and its products have long been the main focus of Anna-Lena Buchholz's interest. An internship at the unit Research, Education and Development of the Schwäbisch Hall Farmers' Producers' Association marked the professional turning point. Before that, after completing her master's degree in nutritional sciences at the University of Jena, she initially worked for two years at Springer-Verlag as an associate editor in Heidelberg. Since 2019, Anna-Lena Buchholz has been developing the annual program as well as the seminar offers together with the team as office manager of the Akademie Schloss Kirchberg and coordinates the organic training courses for the trade, subsidies for the further education institution, cooperation with the partners and coordination of the tasks in the team. Over the past few years, Anna-Lena Buchholz, initially together with Christoph Zimmer, has further developed the concept for the Öko-Marketingtage (Organic Marketing Days), developed and implemented the program. She is now responsible for the planning of the established sector get-together.

Miriam Kaiser

In her role as an educational consultant at Akademie Schloss Kirchberg, Miriam Kaiser combines her experience in non-formal political education with her background in sustainability studies. In addition to her Bachelor's degree in International Relations in Erfurt, Miriam Kaiser trained as a workshop leader for political education at the European Youth Education and Meeting Center Weimar. Subsequently, she worked as an independent trainer on the topics of diversity and sustainability from 2018. She also pursued these main topics in her master's degree in peace and conflict studies in Tampere, Finland. She particularly focused on the impact of climate change on our society and the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Since December 2021, she has also been shedding light on these topics in her work for the Akademie Schloss Kirchberg. She is responsible for the summer school "Future of Food - Sustainable Food Systems", which addresses young people who want to help shape the future of our food. In addition, Miriam Kaiser is responsible for various local collaborations, meaning that a wide variety of seminar topics, from bees to biogas, converge on her desk.
